UHURU KENYATTA MUST attend all his trials at The Hague in person UNLESS told otherwise - ICC Appeals Chamber rules

Wednesday November 27, 2013 - The International Criminal Court (ICC) Appeals Chamber has today reversed the decision to excuse President Uhuru Kenyatta from attending his trials at The Hague.

In their ruling, the three judge bench, said President Kenyatta must attend all his trials physically.

However the judges said Uhuru may be excused from attending on special circumstances because he is the Head of State.

The move came after the ICC Chief Prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, went to the Appeals Chamber urging them to reconsider Trial Chamber (a)’s decision, which allowed President Uhuru Kenyatta to skip all sessions which start on February 5.

This is a big blow to Uhuru Kenyatta since he will now be required to be at Hague throughout when his trial begins.
