CORD loses as Makueni Governor, KIVUTHA KIBWANA is set to tender his resignation tomorrow after PRESSURE

Tue Oct 14, 2013 - Makueni Governor, Prof Kivutha Kibwana is going to tender his resignation as a Governor today after he leaves hospital in Nairobi.

Prof. Kivutha Kibwana's move is credited to pressure over funding in the county.

He has also been accused of misappropriation of funds by the County’s top officials and this may be one of the reasons for his resignation.

The law says that if a vacancy occurs in the Office of Governor, the Deputy Governor shall assume office as Governor for the remaining part of the five year term.

It is not clear whether Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) will still accuse the Jubilee Government as being behind Kivutha’s resignation.

Kivutha who is a constitutional lawyer was former President Mwai Kibaki’s constitution adviser.
